The other day I wrote about the benefits of cloth diapering and while there are many benefits there are several down sides too. For me personally, the benefits outweigh the negitives but I know that is not the case for everyone. Here are 3 reasons you may not want to cloth diaper.
They’re more work.
Cloth diapers are without a doubt, more work! You have to strip, sanitize, dry, and adjust them. They can’t just be thrown into the washer and dryer, folded up, and then reused. They take extra steps and prep that help make it worth it.
Cloth diapers smell. A LOT! They don’t have to though. cloth diapers take more work but if the work is done promptly after the diaper is removed they will smell less (or not at all) and be easier to manage.
Investing in cloth diapers to begin with isn’t cheap. While statistics say most spend around $900 we invested approximately $100 in our cloth diaper stash but now have a little over 40, name brand, diapers. Cloth diapers are great to ask for as gifts. To spend more initially is often worth it for the lifetime savings you’ll get with cloth diapers.
